Feedback Question

A general question for the posters here- what sort of feedback do you want?

I am a published author who is very serious about making it in the industry and I tend to give constructive criticism intended to help the recipient grow as a writer. Some people don't want that, they just want to show off their story.  I am not one of those people who will pat you on the head and say "That's good." (because I HATE those people when they read my work).

So, before I read and give feedback on any story here, I want to know that the author is OK with some constructive criticism. Just let me know in this topic what you want.

No critisim at all would be good.

I'm fine with that. I don't really care I usually do this stuff sprr-of-the-moment, so...yea.

assuming I get the inspiration again, I'd love constructive criticism. It'd help greatly

Just tell me how great I am. ^_^

Thank you. I like to know what people expect in these situations; I have had to develop a thick skin over the years and I forget other people don't have that sometimes.

Example: I sent my novel to seven agents two weeks ago, and have already received three rejections. I laughed gaily and shoved them in my "Big Box o' Rejection" that I keep under the shelf and is now nearly overflowing.

What do you suspect is the reason for that?
Lady Macbeth

The reasons for being rejected? They are myriad. The publishing industry is hard as heck to break into. I have to find an agent who is in the right mood to read my query letter and synopsis, who sees something in my synopsis worth his/her time, and thinks it will sell. The same goes for journals and magazines, a lot of it is hitting the right person at the right moment. There is also the industry itself and the trends that drive it; right now a lot of agents want VAMPIRES! and I hate vampires.    My novel has no vampires. At all.

I know I'm a good writer; a heck of a lot better than a lot of people who get published (but there are far better writers than me out there). It's the same in any creative field; artists and musicians have the same problems.  I just have to take the advice of Winston Churchill and never, never. never give up.

Ah...the Vampires...I dont mind them but sometimes they are a little...overused.

Vampires rock!

I wanted to do a series (Anime) about a Vampire that got rejected from his school. That he must live in the real world. He must choose wrong from right. Since he is a Vampire he's going to get hunted. He's a vampire with a kind heart and wants to protect people.

Like the Twilight series with Stenie Meyer(?) That's propbly the reason they are HUGE right now......(fan) -^^-

I liked The Ann Rice books.
CyborgAdmin

I want to read those.
Lady Macbeth

I loathe Anne Rice. I am not a fan of vampires to begin with, but her novels are ponderous, preachy, and her characters are a bunch of whiners. My husband talked me into reading "The Vampire Lestat" and by the end I wanted to stake him myself. What a baby! He makes his best friend into a vampire, then proceeds to whine about why he shouldn't have done that for 139 pages. I am not kidding.

Obviously Anne Rice really touches something in a lot of people, but I can't stand her. So don't take my word that she is bad, because if you are a vampire fan you might really like her.
